Electrical outlets refer to receptacles or sockets that are designed to provide a connection point for electrical devices, such as lamps, appliances and other electronic equipment. These outlets typically have two or three slots into which plugs can be inserted in order to receive power from the mains supply. They come in different types including wall outlets, floor outlets, and ceiling outlets among others, depending on their intended use. The term "outlet" is also used interchangeably with terms such as "receptacle," "socket," or "plug."
